I-9 Information
Federal law requires proper documentation of identity and work authorization documents at the time of employment. You will receive an email from HireRight with a link to complete Section 1 of the Federal I-9 form. Section 1 of the Federal I-9 form will need to be completed on or before your 1st day of employment. Once you have completed Section 1 of the Federal I-9 form the next step will be to present your I-9 documents (originals, no copies will be accepted) to the Human Resource Department to complete Section 2. The University I-9 Coordinator, Katrina Smith (smithkatr22@ecu.edu) will attend New Faculty Orientation on August 14 and 15 to collect I-9 documents and answer any questions.
A List of Acceptable Documents can be found at https://humanresources.ecu.edu/wp-content/pv-uploads/sites/21/2019/10/List-of-Acceptable-Documents-for-I-9.pdf.
If you have questions regarding the I-9 process, please contact Katrina Smith at smithkatr22@ecu.edu or 252-328-9995. Completion of the I-9 certification within the federally required period is a condition of your employment and as such, payroll will not be activated until certification is complete.
